Replit CEO and co-founder Amjad Masad believes that self-driving companies will soon become the norm.
According to their website, we can see that Replit raised $400 million in March 2026 at a $9 billion valuation. The company is on track for $1 billion in annual revenue by the end of the year.
Amjad Masad envisions businesses where AI agents can handle routine tasks and much of the day-to-day work. He emphasizes that people will remain indispensable, working alongside AI agents.
At TechCrunch Disrupt, Amjad Masad said that AI changed how their company operates, especially after AI agents became more reliable.
He gave an example of how AI agents work. According to Masad, when a support ticket comes in at Replit, an AI agent reviews it first, checking all the relevant information. By the time the request reaches a human support specialist, the agent has gathered the context needed to help them understand the issue and decide on the next steps. Masad also said that Replit’s support team now closes the hardest tickets, the ones escalated to humans, 60 % faster.
Amjad says that AI agents can do most of the work, but people still play an important role in reviewing the results and deciding how to handle each issue. “You need judgement; you need taste”, Masad explained.
Ultimately, Replit CEO said that their goal is to use AI agents to make the team’s work easier and help them become more productive.
I think that companies don’t need to replace employees with AI to become more efficient. Instead, they can let AI agents handle routine tasks while people focus on more complex issues.
